Course description

Companies are increasingly confronted with stakeholder expectations reflected in calls for “responsible management.” This course provides an introduction to responsible management concepts (e.g., CSR, ESG, business ethics, sustainability, legitimacy, circular economy) and discusses how responsible companies can create economic, ecological, and social value.

Emphasis is placed on organizational-level approaches (e.g., how organizations adopt and communicate responsible practices and face challenges such as greenwashing, pinkwashing, and bluewashing) and individual-level approaches (e.g., how individuals intend to behave ethically but are hindered by decision-making challenges). These concepts and principles are explored in a variety of management areas, including marketing, strategy, innovation, human resources, and digital business.
